Who is the CCLA?
CCLA is short for Cumberland County Landfill Alert—a group of concerned citizens fighting to protect our environment and way of life, by opposing the proposed Green Ridge Landfill in Cumberland County, Virginia. We are very concerned about the welfare and well-being of not only local residents, but statewide. If the local water sources get contaminated from this proposed landfill, it has the potential of contaminating water sources for human consumption all the way to Chesapeake Bay.
We are dedicated to doing all we can to STOP this harmful project from becoming a reality. A project where the adverse effects of it will span beyond the borders of Cumberland County, Virginia.
The purpose of this website is to inform the public of our concerns and solicit your support. We will do our best in documenting and bringing awareness to how it will negatively affect local counties, regions, and Virginia. We will strive to keep you informed of recent events concerning this issue and the status of the approval process.
CCLA is registered in Virginia as a 501 c(4), non-profit group. Our only source of income is from donations and fundraising. Expenses are closely monitored to ensure only necessary costs are incurred. Legal fees, building rental and advertising are the top three expenses of the organization. All donations of volunteer time and cash are greatly appreciated by CCLA.
