Could your water get contaminated from the proposed landfill in Cumberland County?

Yes, if you live in Cumberland or areas East to include Richmond City, Henrico County - all the way to the Chesapeake Bay.

They Did Have A Choice!!

Supervisors John Newman, Eurika Tyree, Paul Stimpson III, and Robert Saunders Jr. had the authority to disapprove the CUP (Conditional Use Permit) that would have ended the proposed Green Ridge landfill. This video from the Board of Supervisors Public Hearing on July 28th, 2025, supports this statement when Supervisor Hamlet asks the lawyer from Gentry Locke who was retained by Cumberland County if the Board was required to approve the CUP, and the lawyer answered NO.

Mark your calendars for August 7th, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Cumberland County Courthouse, to attend the hearing on the appeal by CCLA - addressing the Board’s 4-1 approval of the new CUP and the 2nd Amended and restated Host Agreement on July 28th, 2025.
