NEWS ALERT

July 28, 2025 – Board approves CUP 24-01 and the Second Amended Host Agreement.

The meeting started at 7 p.m. and at 9:15 p.m. the first citizen was yet to speak. It took
over 2 hours to listen to the lawyers doing presentations. Many citizens spoke against the landfill and only a very few in favor of it. Those in favor did not provide good reasons, but it was mostly about the $$. Those who spoke against the proposed landfill presented very valid reasons and not just $$, a source of all evil. District 1 Supervisor Byran Hamlet deserves a huge “Thank You” he did his very best to get the support of the other 4 Board members to disapprove the CUP and Host Agreement and listen to us, WE THE PEOPLE. He even had the lawyer for Green Ridge and affiliates take an oath of truthfulness prior to his presentation. John Newman, District 2 Supervisor read this long, immaterial clip prior to making the motion for approval. However, now is not the time to give up, and CCLA will continue to oppose the proposed Green Ridge and affiliates landfill in Cumberland County. It is time to re-group and move forward. The four Board members who voted for the CUP and Second Amended Host Agreement, had the opportunity to completely walk away from this last evening by voting “NO” and revoking the entire deal. Now 4 of the 5 Board members will go down in history as the Board of Supervisors that voted to destroy our environment, our rural way of life, endanger our water, etc, and what for just a few $$$. Note they no longer can say it was the previous Board members who approved this – it is the four of them, John Newman, Eurika Tyree, Paul Stimpson, and Robert Saunders.

The County released another revised conditional use permit (CUP) on July 17th. Along with the revised CUP they also released a copy of the proposed Amended Host Agreement. Here are PDFs of both documents for your review.

2. July 26th Protest Action - thank you everyone who showed up in the heat for the protest. The largest group so far and a very vocal group. Participants included toddlers and a 96-year-old grandfather. CCLA held a protest in 2019 and here is a then and now photo of Iris who took part in both events.

YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

THANKS TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!! It Is greatly appreciated. give this project to New Jersey – home of Jerry Cifor who wants this proposed landfill as his Legacy. One important thing to remember we are being successful – after 7+ years, the proposed landfill has not found a home in Cumberland County.
